EVANSTON, Ill. — Ryan Lumsden, Everton Hawkins, and David Nyfjäll were named Big Ten Golfers to Watch, the conference announced today in a preseason release.
Lumsden, a senior Wildcat, was a First Team All-Big Ten selection after the 2017-18 season. The owner of the third-lowest career scoring average in program history competed in the U.S. Open as an amateur this summer.
After tying for the team lead with five rounds in the 60s a season ago, junior Everton Hawkins was also a member of the Big Ten's preseason watch list. The Irvine, California, native will be one of three upperclassmen on the 2018-19 roster.
Finally, newcomer David Nyfjäll rounds out the Northwestern members on the Big Ten's list. The Uppsala, Sweden, native was the winner of the Swedish Junior Match Play Championship and Junior Masters Invitational in 2017. Nyfjäll was the only first-year student-athlete named to the Watch List.
The Wildcats begin their 2018-19 season at the Windon Memorial Classic, September 23-24, at the Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Illinois.
