Northwestern Announces 2018-19 Schedule

2018-19 Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. —
Fresh off a top-20 finish at the NCAA Championships, Northwestern men's golf has announced yet another challenging slate for the 2018-19 campaign.

The Wildcats will start the season at home at the Northwestern-hosted Windon Memorial Classic (Sept. 23-24). The 22nd-annual version of the event will be held at the Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Illinois.

This will be the third time that Knollwood has served as the host to the Windon Memorial Classic, with the most recent time coming in 2013. NU earned the team championship that year.

Chicago's Big Ten Team will compete in three more events in the fall, starting with the Erin Hills Intercollegiate (Sept. 30-Oct. 2) at the host of the 2017 U.S. Open. The #B1GCats will also play in the Chatham Hills Collegiate (Oct. 14-15) in Westfield, Indiana, and the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate (Oct. 27-28) in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Northwestern starts the spring slate at the annual Big Ten Match Play (Feb. 8-9) in Palm Coast, Florida. The Wildcats, a four-time champion of the event, hold a match winning percentage of .829, by far the best in the conference. The next-best rate is Illinois' .583 clip.

The 'Cats travel to the western United States for their next three events, starting with The Prestige at PGA WEST (Feb. 18-20) in La Quinta, California. Next, Northwestern competes at the Desert Mountain Collegiate (March 9-10) in Scottsdale, Arizona, followed by The Goodwin (March 28-30) in Palo Alto, California.

NU wraps up its regular season with the Mason Rudolph Collegiate (Apr. 5-7) in Nashville, Tennessee, then the Boilermaker Invitational (Apr. 13-14) in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The Wildcats will then compete in the Big Ten Championships, April 26-28, at Philadelphia Cricket Club — the oldest country club in the United States. NCAA Regionals are scheduled for April 13-15 at a site to be announced, while the NCAA Championships are April 24-29 at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Despite losing two of the most accomplished players in Northwestern history — Dylan Wu and Sam Triplett — to graduation, Northwestern will welcome a highly-touted recruiting class comprised of David Nyfjäll (Uppsala, Sweden/Celsiusskolan), Lucas Becht (Brussels, Belgium/Wellington College (England)), and Yannick Artigolle (Hong Kong/Loretto School (Scotland)). The 'Cats also have the veteran leadership of rising senior Ryan Lumsden, who owns the third-best career stroke average in program history (72.6), and recently competed in the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills as an amateur.
