WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Five different players recorded multi-hit performances, but it was not enough as Purdue held on to top Northwestern, 9-5, Saturday night at Alexander Field.
Northwestern (14-27, 4-16 B1G) looked to Jack Dunn, Alex Erro, Connor Lind, Jack Claeys and Casey O'Laughin, who each recorded a pair of hits. Connor Lind hit his first home run of the season and posted a team-best two RBI. Dunn had a double and a single to move his hit streak to 13 games.
Erro, Willie Bourbon and Leo Kaplan each recorded an RBI.
Hank Christie started for Northwestern and threw 5.0 innings, while striking out a pair. Sam Lawrence threw 2.0 innings of relief, while Tyler Lass closed out the contest's final inning.
Purdue (26-16, 12-4 B1G) out hit Northwestern, 12-11.
Northwestern fell behind early as the Boilermakers struck for five runs in the bottom of the third. Lind's home run in the top of the fourth put NU on the board to make it 5-2.
Both teams posted a run in their respective frames of the fifth and seventh innings, but Purdue posted a pair in the bottom of the eighth to pull away 9-4.
The Wildcats made four errors in the contest.
