EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern sophomore Krystal Lara and first year Ilektra Lebl represented the Wildcats' program with impressive showings in international competition earlier this month.
Northwestern first-year Ilektra Lebl placed third in the 400 individual medley and fifth in the 200 individual medley at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Mesa, Arizona, earning her a spot on Greece's National Team.
Lebl swam a time of 4:49.68 LCM in the 400 IM on Thursday, followed by a 2:18.00 LCM performance in the 200 IM on Friday.
Lebl, who was born in Athens, Greece, qualifies for the National Team just in time for the 2018 Mediterranean Games, which will be held in Tarragona, Spain this summer.
Sophomore Krystal Lara qualified for the Central American and Caribbean Games, following a dominate performance at the Dominican Republic's National Championship.
Lara won every event she swam in, including the 100 and 200 freestyle, 50 and 100 fly, and the 50, 100 and 200 backstroke. In addition, she broke seven national records and earned the high point winner award, scoring the most points in the meet.
The Central American and Caribbean Games will be held in Barranquilla, Columbia this summer.
