WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The final round of the Boilermaker Invitational was canceled due to unplayable conditions, handing Northwestern its third team victory of the season.
FINAL STANDINGS
The Wildcats tied with Kent State atop the leaderboard at the Kampen Golf Course with a 3-over 579. Both squads led third-place Indiana by a stroke.
Junior Ryan Lumsden paced all Wildcats with a 2-under 142 (72-70) performance and tied for fifth place. UCF's Bobby Bai was the individual titlist at 5-under.
In all, three Wildcats were in the top-12, as sophomore Everton Hawkins tied for seventh at 1-under and senior Dylan Wu tied for 12th at 1-over.
For the 'Cats, the win marks the first time since the 2011-12 season that the squad accumulated at least three team championships.
First-year Eric McIntosh posted his career-best finish, tying for 30th at 3-over. He started the event with an even-par 72.
Senior Sam Triplett tied for 45th at 5-over and junior Pete Griffith tied for 61st at 8-over.
The win marked NU's first team championship at the Boilermaker Invitational.
Northwestern has had two tournaments cut short by weather conditions this year (also, the Prestige at PGA WEST), the most since the 2006-07 season also saw two rounds scrapped.
