The 'Cats fired a 4-under 284 in the first round, the best among all 17 teams at the event. The result is the best par-72 team round of the season so far for NU.
Junior Ryan Lumsden (T5) paces all Wildcats with a 2-under 142 tally, including a second-round 70.
Sophomore Everton Hawkins is right behind him with a 1-under 141 score, which puts him in seventh place. He led all NU golfers in the first round with a 3-under 69 scorecard. Senior Dylan Wu is 1-over and tied for 12th.
UCF's Bobby Bai is the individual leader after day one at -5.
First year Eric McIntosh, entered as an individual, has posted his best results of the spring so far in the first two rounds. He went 72-75 to sit at +3 and in 30th place.
Senior Sam Triplett (+5; T46) and junior Pete Griffith (+8; T65) also competed in the first 36 holes at Purdue's home course.
