COLUMBUS, Ohio — The morning didn't go as planned, but Northwestern junior Olivia Rosendahl showed why she is one of the best divers in the country in the afternoon by winning the consolation finals in the NCAA Championships 3-meter springboard to finish ninth overall and earn Honorable Mention All-America honors.
Rosendahl finished 10th in Friday morning's prelims, just outside the top eight needed to qualify for the finals. She did not let the disappointing morning hold her down however, bouncing back with 375.70 to earn her fifth career All-America plaudit. Her score was her second best of the season and was the second-best score posted through the prelims and consolation finals of the NCAA Championships.
First year Calypso Sheridan continued to impress in her first NCAA Championships, improving on her seeded position for the second straight day. Sheridan entered Friday's prelims seeded 29th in the 400 individual medley and posted a 4:09.61 to finish 22nd overall.
Sheridan and Rosendahl will wrap up the NCAA Championships on Saturday in the 200 breaststroke and platform. Rosendahl is the defending national champion in the platform event, while Sheridan is seeded 20th in the 200 breast.
