AUSTIN, Texas — Northwestern dropped the series finale to No. 23 Texas, 12-1, Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats (3-7) received hits from Jack Dunn, Alex Erro and Connor Lind. Dunn had Northwestern's lone RBI on Sunday. Leo Kaplan touched home plate for the #B1GCats in the third inning.
Danny Katz earned the start on Sunday and took the loss after going 1.1 innings. Josh Levy relieved Katz and tossed 3.0 inning, holding the Longhorns to a pair of hits and tallied three strikeouts.
Texas built a 5-0 lead over the first two innings before the Wildcats got on the board in the top of the third thanks to a bases-loaded walk by J. Dunn that brought home Kaplan.
Matteo Bocchi started for Texas and tossed 4.1 innings, allowing just two hits and one run.
Zach Zubia and Ryan Reynolds led the way for the Longhorns, each racking up three RBI.
Northwestern returns to action on Tuesday, March 6, with a 5:30 p.m. CT contest at UIC.
