Riley Shines On Moving Day At Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – On a difficult day for scoring, Brooke Riley was one of only three student-athletes in the 93-player field to finish under par in Round 2 of the elite Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club (Par-72; 6,296 yards). Riley's 2-under 69 rocketed her 12 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for third heading into Sunday's final round of play.

Long Cove Club presented a formidable challenge to the field on Saturday, where the course played nearly 1.5 shots more difficult than Friday's opening round, on average. After playing her first four holes of the day at 1-over, Riley rattled off three consecutive birdies on Nos. 5, 6 and 7, the last of which surrendered only three birdies all day. She added another birdie on No. 11, which played as the most difficult hole on the course in Round 2.
 
Through 36 holes, Riley has played Long Cove's Par-4 offerings at 5-under. Only four other players in the tournament are under par on the Par-4 holes, with those four combining to be 5-under.   
 
Led by Riley, along with Hannah Kim and Stephanie Lau tied for eighth, Northwestern maintained its hold on the second position on the team leaderboard. The top three spots remained unchanged from Day 1, and the Wildcats (+15) will tee off Sunday's final round paired again with Alabama (+9) and Arkansas (+18). The three national powerhouses will start the third round at 9:40 a.m. ET, which Sarah Cho leading off for the 'Cats, followed by Janet Mao, Lau, Kim and Riley in ten-minute increments.

The 18-team field at Hilton Head this weekend features six of the Top-9 teams in the nation, and nine of the Top-17. In addition to the No. 13 Wildcats, the leaderboard includes No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 5 Duke, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 8 South Carolina, No. 9 Furman, No. 14 Oklahoma State, No. 17 Virginia, Auburn, Baylor, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
 
The weekend forecast at Hilton Head calls for sunny skies, and temperatures in the low-to-mid-60's during the day. Winds are expected to gust towards the NW at 13-16mph with limited humidity.
