EVANSTON, Ill. – Junior forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah and first-year guard Lindsey Pulliam were consensus All-Big Ten selections by the conference's coaches and media, it was announced Monday.
Kunaiyi-Akpanah, Northwestern's single-season rebound record holder, was voted Second Team All-Big Ten after averaging 11.5 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. Pulliam earned an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection and made the five-player All-Freshman Team on the heels of leading all conference first years with 14.6 points per game.
Senior captain Lydia Rohde, who ranked sixth in the conference by knocking down 40 percent of her three-point attempts, was awarded the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
Kunaiyi-Akpanah broke the program's single-season rebounding mark in a win over Rutgers in the final game of the season. She stands at 355 and surpassed Nia Coffey's mark of 344 from 2015-16. The junior has recorded five straight double-doubles and has 18 on the season, tied for the program record with Nia Coffey (2015-16) and Patricia Babcock (1993-94).
She posted double-digit scoring outputs 21 times and gathered 10-plus rebounds on 22 occasions, including a dominant 27-point, 21-rebound performance against Oakland on Nov. 16, the third 20-20 game in Northwestern history and just the 12th in the Big Ten since 2000.
Pulliam was the top-scoring first year in the Big Ten all season and reached double figures 23 times, including a career-high 33-point effort at Indiana on Feb. 4. She ranks 15th overall in the conference in scoring and fourth in free-throw percentage at 81.7 percent.
