MINNEAPOLIS — Northwestern men's swimming and diving team took ninth place in both the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay on day one of the 2018 Big Ten Championships.
The group of Nick Peterson, Will Hofstadter, Arjun Sharma and Along Olshtein posted a time of 1:26.61 in the 200 medley relay. Peter Lewczyk, Liam Gately, Ryan Tate and Alex Snarkski teamed up in the 800 free relay to touch the wall in 6:31.05.
The Wildcats scored 80 points on the evening, placing the team in ninth place heading into day two of the league championships.
Northwestern returns to the pool tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. for the prelims of the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and the 1 meter diving.
