Wildcats Finish Seventh at 2018 Big Ten Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio —
Northwestern junior Olivia Rosendahl wrapped up an outstanding week at the 2018 Big Ten Championships with a runner up performance in the platform to earn Co-Diver of the Championships and All-Big Ten honors Saturday night.
 
The Wildcats finished the league championships seventh for the second-straight year with 528 team points.
 
Rosendahl won her first Big Ten championships Friday night with a win in the 3-meter springboard and looked claim a second in as many nights, but came up just short. Rosendahl posted the best score of the prelims with a 362.85 and returned in the evening with a 360.05 to finish runner up in the even behind Indiana's Jessica Parratto's 378.15.

Senior Mary Warren put an exclamation point on her final Big Ten Championships with a season-best in the 100 freestyle Saturday morning to qualify for the 'B final.' Warren touched the wall in a NCAA 'B' cut time of 49.41 in the morning to qualify for the finals. She posted a 49.79 in the final to finish 15th overall.
 
The 200 breast featured a pair of Northwestern first years who continued to show that the future is bright for Chicago's Big Ten Team. Sophie Angus qualified for the championship final with a 2:11.41 in the morning and went on to finish seventh with a NCAA 'B' cut time of 2:10.81 in the evening.

Calypso Sheridan, who had already set a pair of school records earlier in the week, narrowly missed the championship final, but turned around and swam a 2:08.80 in the 'B final' to set another school record and finish ninth overall. Sheridan's 2:08.80 was the fifth-fastest time of the evening session.

Sophomore Nicole Aarts opened the final session of the week with a 13th-place finish in the 200 backstroke. Aarts qualified for the 'B final' with a 1:56.69 in the morning and improved her time in the evening session with a season-best and NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:56.15 to score 14 team points for the 'Cats.
 
First-year Rachel Tseng (16:32.89), senior Sydney Modeas (16:36.80) and sophomore Irune Andres (16:44.40) also scored important points for the 'Cats by finishing 14th, 18th and 23rd respectively in the 1,650 freestyle.
 
The 400 free relay team of Warren, sophomore Malorie Han, first-year Ilektra Lebl and senior Anna Keane wrapped up the event with a sixth-place finish. The Wildcats finished the race with the third-best performance in program history, touching the wall in 3:18.64.
 
Lebl also swam in the consolation final of the 200 fly Saturday night, finishing 18th overall with a season-best and NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:58.25.
