EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern travels to West Lafayette, Ind. to continue Big Ten play against Purdue, hosted in Mackey Arena at 6 p.m. on Thursday night.
The Wildcats are coming off a win against Wisconsin, improving their standings to 2-3 in the Big Ten and 9-10 overall. In the game, Wildcat fans saw first-year guard Jordan Hamilton score a career high 22 points, and junior forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah post her 10th double-double of the season. Purdue sits at seventh in the league with a 3-2 record, and defeated Iowa 76-70 in their most recent contest.
First-year guard Lindsey Pulliam leads the team in scoring with 14.1 points per game, and her .855 free throw percentage is third in the Big Ten. Kunaiyi-Akpanah is third in the league with an 11.1 overall rebound average, and is one of only three players in the Big Ten to average a double-double per game. With her tenth double-double of the season, Kunaiyi-Akpanah ranks ninth in the NCAA. Her defensive rebounding average of 8.1 per game is second in the league, contributing to Northwestern's second overall ranking for defensive rebounding.
Thursday marks the 69th all-time meeting between Northwestern and Purdue. The Boilermakers lead the series, 47-21, with Northwestern winning three of the last six contests dating back to 2014. Purdue holds a 26-8 edge in West Lafayette, with the most recent loss coming in the Wildcats' 2016-17 regular season finale, a tightly contested 61-59 defeat.
