EAST LANSING, Mich. — Despite a career-high 15 points from Oceana Hamilton and 10 points from Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah, Northwestern dropped their first road Big Ten contest of the season to Michigan State at the Breslin Center on Wednesday night.
Hamilton more than doubled her previous point-scoring apogee of seven in the contest. Kunaiyi-Akpanah unleashed her 11th double-digit point scoring performance of the season, trailing only Abi Scheid and Lindsey Pulliam. Hamilton also added a team-high three blocks.
The Wildcats out-shot the Spartans from the charity stripe, 82 percent to 72 percent, but were edged out in the game, 81-51.
First-year guard Lindsey Pulliam finished with eight points, including an immaculate six-of-six from the free throw line. Her six made free throws are tied for her most in a single contest.
The Wildcats are back at home on Sunday, Jan. 7, against Nebraska. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at historic Beardsley Gym in Evanston Township High School.
