Chatt and Lipp were clipped by Duke's team of Samantha Harris and Kelly Chen, 8-6, denying them a berth in Saturday's semifinals.
Meanwhile, in the doubles consolation draw, Erin Larner and Lee Or remained alive by notching two victories. The Wildcats' duo topped Santa Clara's Madison Clarke and Maddie Pothoff, 8-4, before defeating Utah's Brianna Turley and Margo Pletcher, 8-4, to advance to Saturday's semifinal round of the draw.
