EVANSTON, Ill. — The Northwestern men's golf team, fresh off of winning the 21st Windon Memorial Classic, travels to Greensboro, North Carolina, to finish their fall slate at the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate on Saturday and Sunday.
FIRST THINGS FIRST
The #B1GCats will be sending out Dylan Wu, Sam Triplett, Everton Hawkins, Ryan Lumsden, and Eric McIntosh. First-year Ethan Farnam will be the Wildcats' individual entry and will be competing in his second-straight event.
Northwestern will play 36 holes Saturday beginning with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start. Sunday will have an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start for the final round.
WHO'S HERE?
The field includes UNCG (123rd), UNC (24th), Duke (28th), Kansas State (103rd), Georgia State (73rd), Loyola (Md.) (137th), North Carolina State (144th), Northwestern (56th), VCU (156th), and Virginia Tech (79th).
WINNER, WINNER
Northwestern surged in the final round of the 21st Windon Memorial Classic, posting a 7-under 273 to tie Penn State for the tournament win. The Wildcats picked up their fifth all-time win at their home event and second in the last five years.
PRIOR RETURNS
Sophomore Everton Hawkins posted his strongest performance of the season at the Windon, carding a 3-under 207 and coming one stroke off of the individual championship. He posted 3-under 67s in both the opening and closing rounds.
BEEN THERE BEFORE
The Wildcats finished third out of 13 teams in last year's UNCG-hosted event, previously called the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate. Seniors Dylan Wu and Sam Triplett finished every round under-par and tied for fourth at 8-under. The 'Cats also played at the Bridgestone in 2015, finishing tied for third place. The event is in its 13th year.
PRECIPITATION WATCH
Saturday will be the better of the two days, weather-wise, with a high of 70 and a low of 49 and mostly cloudy skies. Sunday has a 50 percent chance of precipitation and a high of 53 and a low of 33.
