EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior guards Scottie Lindsey and Bryant McIntosh each have been named to the 10-member Preseason All-Big Ten Team in conjunction with the Conference's Media Day Thursday in New York City.
It is the first such honor for both individuals who were selected by the league's media members. Northwestern is one of three schools to place two players on the team, joining Michigan State and Minnesota.
Both players were integral in leading the Wildcats to a school-record 24 wins in 2016-17 while leading NU to its first NCAA tournament berth and victory in program history.
McIntosh was one of three unanimous selections to the team, joining Michigan State's Miles Bridges and Wisconsin's Ethan Happ. A consensus second-team All-Big Ten selection a year ago, McIntosh paced the Wildcats with an average of 14.8 points per game while leading the league with an average of 5.4 assists per game in conference play. A native of Greensburg, Indiana, McIntosh is the nation's active leader with 551 career assists. He enters his senior season ranked 15th in Northwestern history with 1,341 career points. Lindsey enjoyed a breakout season in 2016-17, raising his scoring average 7.7 points per game from his sophomore season up to 14.1 points per contest. The Hillside, Illinois, native was a third-team All-Big Ten selection of the league's head coaches a year ago and scored in double figures in each of Northwestern's first 20 games a year ago before missing a period of time due to illness. He bounced back to averaged 15.0 points per game during NU's five postseason games.
