OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. — Despite senior Dylan Wu's team-leading 1-over performance in the opening round of the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational, Northwestern (+13) sits in 12th place among the competitive field at Olympia Fields Country Club.
Junior Ryan Lumsden had the next-best performance for NU in the season-opening tournament, finishing his first round with a 2-over 72. He picked up two birdies in the final three holes of the front nine.
Wu is tied for 24th with 36 holes remaining while Lumsden is tied for 27th.
In his first collegiate event, first year Eric McIntosh was the third-best Wildcat in day one, shooting a 4-over 74.
The Wildcats will tee off Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m., starting with sophomore Everton Hawkins. Sam Triplett (8:54), Eric McIntosh (9:03), Ryan Lumsden (9:12), and Dylan Wu (9:21) will follow.
