UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Northwestern senior goalkeeper Lauren Clem continued her record-breaking and award-winning career by moving into second place on the school's all-time saves list.

With her first save of the match at No. 8 Penn State on Thursday night, Clem surpassed Erin Ekeberg (1997-2000) with 282 career saves. She finished the night at 288. The all-time leader in Northwestern and Big Ten history is Wendy Scholz (1994-97) with 577. The senior Clem made a season-high seven saves on the night.

Clem is six straight starts and just over 300 minutes played away from sitting at the top of both of those categories in the Wildcats' record book.

Northwestern dropped the contest on the road against the eighth-ranked Nittany Lions, 3-0, on Big Ten Network.

Penn State struck first in the early going with a goal in the fourth minute from Megan Schafer. PSU got another one right before the end of the first half on a free kick just beyond the top of the box by Emily Ogle.

The Nittany Lions got another goal right out of the break in the 48th minute by Charlotte Williams to make it 3-0.

Penn State applied a lot of pressure throughout with 17 shots, 10 shots on goal, and 10 corner kicks.

Northwestern took seven shots of its own, led by Marisa Viggiano with three. She leads the team this season with 16. Grace Orndorff, Kayleigh Stahlschmidt, and Regan Steigleder each took shots as well. The first-year Steigleder had the Wildcats' best look of the night in the 74th minute, but it went just wide of the net.

Chicago's Big Ten Team is right back on national television Sunday when it travels to Ohio State for a 12 p.m. CT kick-off on ESPNU.
