EVANSTON, Ill. -- Evanston's annual 'Kits, 'Cats and Kids Block Party will once again bring the community together for a celebration Thursday, September 14, from 4:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For the second straight year, the event will take place on Sherman Avenue between Church and Clark Streets and on Clark Street between Sherman and Benson Avenues.
The free family-friendly event will include games, arts and crafts, a live DJ and numerous great dining options.
The Northwestern University and Evanston Township High School Marching Bands will perform, and special guests will fire up the crowd in anticipation of the NU Wildcat and ETHS Wildkit football games to be played that weekend.
Attendees will have the opportunity to choose from a number of outstanding food vendors including: Chicago Lunchbox, Pikostreet, 5411 Empanadas, Babycakes, Da Lobsta, La Cocinta, Amanacer, Beavers Donuts, and Krave hot dogs.

The event also will include an appearance from the captains of the NU and ETHS football teams in addition to other special guests.
Evanston Day at Ryan Field is set for Saturday, September 16 when the 'Cats host Bowling Green at 6:30 p.m. Special priced tickets will be available for purchase at the Block Party Thursday night.
To beat the traffic, guests are encouraged to ride their bike or take public transportation to the event.
The Block Party is sponsored by the City of Evanston, Northwestern University, Downtown Evanston, the Evanston Chamber of Commerce, Evanston Township High School, and Evanston/Skokie School District 65.
