EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern football fans will have the opportunity to go behind closed doors and inside the Wildcats' quest for a 2017 Big Ten championship when the third season of 'The Foundation: Northwestern Football', debuts at 5:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, August 30, on Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

"The Foundation offers an authentic look behind-the-scenes of our football family," said Dan & Susan Jones Family Head Coach Pat Fitzgerald. "The hard work of our broadcast operations staff allows us to show recruits and the Wildcats community across the nation what Northwestern football is all about, not just on gameday but throughout the year. We're excited this season to give people another glimpse of every part of our process to build a championship program."
A production from the award-winning Studio N, The Foundation will provide fans with an exclusive inside look at the 2017 Wildcats. The series includes access to practices, meetings, team travel and the lives of student-athletes off the field as Chicago's Big Ten Team progresses through the college football season.
"We're extremely proud of what was accomplished during the first two seasons of The Foundation, and we're excited to raise the bar this fall," said Senior Director of Broadcast Operations Rob Coons. "None of this is possible without complete buy-in on the part of Coach Fitzgerald and the football program. Our student-athletes are some of the nation's best and brightest, and we look forward this season to giving the Northwestern community an inside look at what it's like to be a Wildcat."
The first season of The Foundation was released in the spring of 2015 and chronicled Northwestern football's spring practice campaign. The series expanded for the 2016 football season to an eight-episode television show. New episodes of The Foundation: Northwestern Football air every other week on Comcast SportsNet Chicago and are also available for fans outside of Chicagoland on the Northwestern Athletics YouTube page.
Northwestern's 2017 campaign begins on Saturday, September 2, when the Wildcats welcome Nevada to Ryan Field at 2:30 p.m. Chicago's Big Ten Team will host five Big Ten Conference home games for the first time ever, welcoming Penn State, Iowa, Michigan State, Purdue and Minnesota to Evanston this fall.
