EVANSTON, Ill. — A pair of Northwestern swimmers competed in championship events last week.
Incoming first-year student-athlete Sophie Angus competed in the 2017 Canadian Nationals at Olympic Park Sports Centre in Montreal, QC, and rising sophomore Krystal Lara competed in the U.S. Open Swimming Championships at Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, NY.
Angus turned in blazing fast swims in her first two events, resulting in top-three finishes. She finished second in the 50m breaststroke with a time of 31.61, and finished third in the 100m breaststroke, coming in with a time of 1:09.67. She also turned in a top-ten finish in the 200m breaststroke, with a time of 2:36.00.
Lara competed in three events, finishing with a time of 1:00.90 in the 100m fly, and posting a 1:03.12 in the 100m backstroke. She also turned in a preliminary time of 2:04.58 in the 200m free.
