EVANSTON, Ill. — Men's golf seniors Sam Triplett and Dylan Wu have been named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars, the GCAA announced Wednesday.
The pair of Wildcats are one of only 260 in Division I men's golf who have earned the distinction.
To be eligible, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2.
"This award honors golfers who excel both on the course and in the classroom," said head coach David Inglis. "Sam and Dylan embody that each and every day, and I'm very proud of all the hard work they've put in to get to this point."
Triplett, a native of Scottsdale, Arizona, registered a career-low stroke average of 73.73 while playing 26 rounds with the Wildcats in 2016-17. His season was highlighted by shooting under-par all three rounds at the Bridgestone Collegiate for the first time in his NU career to notch a career-low 208 (70-68-70). He has also earned Academic All-Big Ten distinctions for both of the two seasons he has been eligible.
Wu, a native of Medford, Oregon, is in the midst of one of the most decorated careers in Northwestern men's golf history. He was named a PING Second-Team All-American, was a unanimous First-Team All-Big Ten selection, and won the Les Bolstad Award for the lowest scoring average in the Big Ten. An economics major, Wu has also won Academic All-Big Ten plaudits in his two eligible seasons.
