Northwestern Swimming Hosts Special Olympics Clinic

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern men's and women's swimming and diving coaching staffs hosted a one day Special Olympics swim clinic on June 16.

Head men's swimming and diving coach Jarod Schroeder, along with the rest of the Northwestern coaches, welcomed over 15 Special Olympic athletes to the Norris Aquatics Center to provide athletes with a mainstream-camp experience.

"We had a great time working with Special Olympics Illinois to develop this camp concept," Schroeder said. "Our goal was to give the athletes a great experience and we believe we delivered. It was fun to interact with the athletes and help them learn new skills that will make them better swimmers."

Coaches and athletes participated in two classroom and water sessions, working on technique, starts, and turns.
