EVANSTON, Ill. — A pair of game times for the Northwestern's 2017 Football season were announced Wednesday as ESPN and Fox Sports released their coverage schedules for games during the first three weeks of the season and other select games later in the season.
The Wildcats' homecoming contest against defending Big Ten champion Penn State will kickoff at 11 a.m. CT at Ryan Field. A television designation for the showdown versus the Nittany Lions will be announced at a later date. Penn State last visited Evanston on Nov. 7, 2015 when the Wildcats kicked a last-second field goal to earn a dramatic come-from-behind victory, 23-21.
Chicago's Big Ten Team's visit to ACC foe Duke will air on ESPNU and also kick off at 11 a.m. CT. The 'Cats have defeated the Blue Devils each of the last two seasons, including a 19-10 victory at Brooks Field in their last visit to Durham in 2015.
In addition to the two game times announced for the Wildcats, ESPN also announced the Wildcats' games at Maryland on Oct. 14 and versus Michigan State on Oct. 28 will air on ESPN or ESPN2.
The 2017 campaign marks the first time in history that Northwestern will host five Big Ten Conference tilts at Ryan Field. The 'Cats kick off the home Conference slate against reigning Big Ten champion Penn State on Saturday, October 7, and will also take on Iowa, Michigan State, Purdue and Minnesota in Evanston.
