EVANSTON, Ill. -- Draws have been set for this week's NCAA Women's Tennis Doubles Championship to be played in Athens, Georgia.
Northwestern's duo of Alex Chatt and Maddie Lipp are one of 32 teams in the field and will open up competition against Texas Tech's Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici on Thursday at 3 p.m. Central time.
This is the second straight year that Chatt and Lipp have earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Doubles Championship. The duo fell in a tight first-round match a year ago.
In the most recent ITA national rankings released May 4, Chatt and Lipp are ranked No. 15 while Dvorak and Federici are ranked No. 26.
The Wildcats and the Red Raiders squared off in Evanston March 19, but the two doubles teams did not face each other that day. Instead, it was Rheeya Doshi who paired with Lipp to earn a 6-3 victory over then-24th-ranked Dvorak and Federici at the No. 1 doubles spot in the lineup.
The winner of Thursday's match advances to Friday's round of 16 against the winner of the match between the fourth-seeded North Carolina team of Jessie Aney and Hayley Carter and Georgia's Eleni Christofi and Kennedy Shaffer.
Unlike during the dual match season, all matches are played in a best-of-three-sets format.
The tournament continues through the championship match on March 29.
