ATHENS, Ga. – Juniors Hannah Kim and Sarah Cho posted even-par 72's in Tuesday's second round of the NCAA Athens Regional at University of Georgia Golf Course. Kim leads the way for the Wildcats through 36 holes, in a tie for 11th with one round remaining, and has Northwestern in position for an invitation to the 2017 NCAA Championships.

Kim, the two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, fired a second consecutive even-par 72 on Tuesday. The junior spun a tremendous wedge to 1.5 feet on No. 6 and tapped in for birdie, and then nearly aced the 162-yard, Par-3 No. 8 before tapping in there as well. She also carded back-to-back birdies on Nos. 14&15 and will tee off the final round in a tie for eleventh, just three shots back of third.
Classmate Sarah Cho birdied No. 18 to wrap up the second round with an even-par 72 as well to climb into the Top-20 at 2-over. Senior Kacie Komoto also carded a birdie on No. 18 to help the 'Cats finish strong on Tuesday.
Head coach Emily Fletcher's Wildcats finished the day at 12-over after two rounds, in a tie for fifth with Tennessee and four shots clear of the cut line. The top-six teams in each of the four NCAA Regionals (Athens; Albuquerque, N.M.; Columbus, Ohio; Lubbock, Texas) will advance to the 2017 NCAA Championships at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois, beginning on May 19.
