Nia Robinson Named Indiana Volleyball Player of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS — Incoming Wildcat Nia Robinson has yet another honor to add to her mantel — she was just named the Indiana Volleyball Player of the Year.

The honor was announced at this year's Indiana Sports Awards.

Robinson, a member of the Indiana All-State Team, helped lead Cathedral to a 4A Championship — the school's second consecutive title — and a year-ending 16th-overall national ranking.

"First, I would like to thank my teammates and my coaches, because I wouldn't be where I am without them," said Robinson after receiving the award. "I would also like to thank my mom for all her love and support."

She had 588 kills on the season, contributing to a program record 1,334 career kills.

"This is yet another award for Nia that shows what a high-caliber player she is," said head coach Shane Davis. "She's a very special player and we can't wait until she gets on campus."

The end of Robinson's high school volleyball career has been met with a multitude of prizes. In addition to this nod, she was awarded the Gatorade Player of the Year. Additionally, she has been named an AVCA/Under Armour, MaxPreps, and PrepVolleyball All-American.

The 6-foot-2 outside hitter is one of seven members of the Class of 2021 who will join Northwestern in the fall.
