Hoscheit Named Big Ten Player of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. — After batting .588 with 10 hits, nine RBI and five runs scored in four games, senior Joe Hoscheit is the Big Ten Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Hoscheit went 10-for-17 on the week with a 1.118 slugging percentage and .579 on base percentage in a mid-week game at Bradley and a road series at Illinois. The Wildcats' outfielder/designated hitter accounted for 14 runs between his nine RBI and five runs scored. Five of his 10 hits went for extra bases, including three doubles and two home runs. His home run on Saturday, April 15, at Illinois was a grand slam that helped NU to an 11-4 win.
 
The St. Charles, Illinois, native leads the team in RBI (27), slugging percentage (.500) and home runs (4), while ranking second on the club with a .313 batting average. Hoscheit is hitting a league-best .543 (19-for-35) in conference games this season.
 
Hoescheit is the first Northwestern student-athlete to earn the weekly baseball honor since Jake Straub in 2013.
