#B1GCats Take Advantage of Strong Second Round at Boilermaker Invitational

Day One Results

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —
Northwestern men's golf used a strong second-round performance to sit in a fifth-place tie after the first day of the Boilermaker Invitational at a windy Kampen Course.

NU was in ninth place after the first 18 holes, shooting a 13-over 301 — a testament to the gusts at the course that is an NCAA Regionals site.

Northwestern was the second-best performer in the second round, shooting a 6-over 294.

The 'Cats ended the day with 595 total strokes (+19). No team finished the first two rounds with a score below 5-over.

Junior Dylan Wu is tied atop the leaderboard for the 'Cats, as his 3-over performance puts him in 10th place. The Medford, Oregon, native shot a 4-over 76 in the first round but rebounded to card a 1-under 71 in round two.

Redshirt senior Andrew Whalen is also in the 10th-place tie. After shooting 3-over 75 in the first round he went even par in the second round.

Freshman Everton Hawkins had the strongest first-round performance among Chicago's Big Ten Team, shooting a 2-over 74. He is in a 33rd-place tie after two rounds.

NU returns for the third round Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. CT, which will be the final 18 holes of the regular season.
