EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern senior Danita Stroup has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Stroup scored a career-high six goals on just six shots in a 15-8 win at Ohio State last Thursday to help the Wildcats remain unbeaten in conference play. Stroup scored three goals in each half, extending her career-long goal streak to eight games in the process.
A native of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, and a member of the Canadian Senior National Team set to compete at the 2017 FIL World Championships, Stroup is second on the team with 25 goals this season. She has recorded six multi-goal games this season and has tallied 10 goals during Big Ten play.
The Wildcats will look to to remain perfect in conference play on Thursday night when they host No. 5 Penn State at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium. The opening draw is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
