Wu Wins Third-Career Big Ten Golfer of the Week Award

EVANSTON, Ill. — Fresh off winning his second collegiate tournament and carding a career-low 66 in the first round of the Redhawk Invitational, Northwestern junior Dylan Wu was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the conference announced today.

The Medford, Oregon, native went 66-70-69 (-7) at Chambers Bay Golf Course, the home of the 2015 U.S. Open, and notched the lead by one stroke.

Nineteen of Wu's 23 rounds this season have been under-par, a mark that leads the 'Cats. He is a team-leader in a variety of other categories, including stroke average (70.0), rounds in 60s (10), top-five finishes (5), top-10 finishes (6), and top-25 finishes (8). His 71 birdies this season are tied for the team lead.

The award is Wu's third as a Wildcat and the fifth for an NU golfer this season. The five individual plaudits for Northwestern are tied with Michigan for the most this season.

Entering the tournament, Wu was ranked the 24th-best golfer in the nation, per Golfweek.

As a team, the Wildcats finished in second place at the Redhawk Invitational, one stroke away from winner Iowa State. Northwestern will compete at the Boilermaker Invitational, Apr. 15-16, in their final regular season competition.
