EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern will host Central Michigan this weekend (March 17-19) at Rocky and Berenice Miller Park in a four-game series beginning on Friday, March 17 at 3:30 p.m. CT.
The Wildcats and Chippewas will meet on Saturday for a doubleheader that will begin at 11 a.m. CT, while Sunday's finale is set for 1 p.m. CT.
Northwestern (4-10) is coming off its first series win of the season when it took two games at Portland last weekend. Freshman Alex Erro leads the Wildcats at the plate with a .392 batting average and a team-best 20 hits and two home runs. As a team, Northwestern is hitting .228 on the season with three players having over 10 knocks (Erro 20; Hopfner 17; Lind 13).
Josh Davis (0-0, 4.82 ERA) will start Friday's lidlifter. The #B1GCats righty has seven strikeouts in 9.1 innings pitched this season. A pair of freshmen are slated to throw for Northwestern on Saturday in Hank Christie (1-2, 3.48 ERA) and Matt Gannon (0-2. 7.88 ERA). The #B1GCats will turn to a third freshman in Josh Levy (1-0, 1.35 ERA) to start the finale on Sunday.
Central Michigan (5-10) enters the weekend on a three-game losing streak after being swept by UCF last weekend in Orlando, Fla. Offensively, Central Michigan is led by Alex Borglin (.406) and Daniel Robinson (.382), who each have 26 hits on the season.
Dazon Cole (0-3, 4.34 ERA) will get the ball in the opener, while Pat Leatherman (1-2, 8.24 ERA) and Tyler Hankins (0-0, 5.60 ERA) are slated to pitch in the doubleheader. CMU's Sunday starter is TBA.
