EVANSTON, Ill. – Junior Sabrina Rabin has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week following her performance against a strong slate at the Judi Garman Classic.
Rabin ran her current hitting streak to eight games, batting .474 with four multi-hit games last weekend in Fullerton. NU's opponents in the tournament entered with a combined 62-12 record, and Rabin led the Wildcats to a 3-2 record including a win over No. 23 Cal.

She started by going 2-for-3 with a double against the Golden Bears, then had two hits, two runs and two steals in a victory over South Carolina. She continued her hot streak with two hits, a run, a steal and an RBI in a victory against Fresno State.
Facing No. 3 Florida, Rabin drove in a run during a four-run NU performance -- the most runs allowed by the Gators all season. She then was 2-for-4 with a double in an extra-inning loss to No. 8 Washington.
The award is the fourth Big Ten weekly honor for Rabin and her second conference Player of the Week nod. She previously was both Big Ten Player and Freshman of the Week on April 20, 2015, before picking up the rookie award again on May 4, 2015.
Northwestern is off this week for winter quarter finals before returning to action March 17-19 with six games at the Santa Clara Invitational during Spring Break 2017.
