Coach Collins Meets the Media | N. Taphorn and S. Lumpkin
EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern closes out its 2016-17 regular season on Sunday, March 5, when it welcomes No. 16 Purdue to Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Sunday's contest will be the final game played in Welsh-Ryan Arena before it undergoes a complete $110 million renovation.
Fans are encouraged to arrive at 3 p.m. as the Wildcats will honor the careers of seniors Sanjay Lumpkin and Nathan Taphorn. Early arriving students will receive a t-shirt and rally towel that feature the two seniors. Following the conclusion of the game fans will have the opportunity to grab a commemorative Welsh-Ryan Arena poster as they exit the arena – limited supplies last.
Northwestern (21-9, 10-7 B1G) is looking to tie the school record for Big Ten wins in a season. The 1930-31 squad posted an 11-1 mark during its Big Ten championship campaign. A win on Sunday would be Northwestern's 15th at Welsh-Ryan Arena this season which would match the school record. The Wildcats are 14-3 at home this season. The team went 15-4 on its home court in 2009-10.
Bryant McIntosh is four assists shy of surpassing Michael Thompson (2008-11) for the NU career assists record of 528. McIntosh's 525 assists are the most of any non-senior in the nation. Over his last 12 games, the junior is averaging 17.8 points and 5.4 assists per contest.
Purdue won the first meeting between the teams this season, 80-59, Feb. 1 in West Lafayette. NU played the game without the services of Scottie Lindsey and Nathan Taphorn. McIntosh, an Indiana native, led the Wildcats with 22 points.
Scouting Purdue

Purdue leads the conference in scoring offense (80.8 pgg), team field goal percentage (.481), team 3-point field goal percentage (.411) and assists per game (18.2).
