EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern University head baseball coach Spencer Allen announced that every game of the upcoming 2017 season is scheduled to be broadcast on either TV, radio or online.
The announcement comes in large part due to an agreement between the university's athletic department and WNUR Sports, Northwestern's student-run radio station, to broadcast all of the Wildcats' road games. Every home game at Rocky and Berenice Miller Park in 2017 will continue to be carried by Studio N, Big Ten Network Plus or Big Ten Network.
"This is a big step forward for our program," said Allen. "Having every one of our games broadcast elevates our program to a new level. We spend a lot of time in the early part of the season traveling around the country, so complete coverage allows our fans to closely follow us like never before. This announcement means a lot to our student-athletes, staff and fans."
Listeners will be able to catch each game's action on WNUR's website here.
"We at WNUR are incredibly excited about embarking on this partnership with Northwestern baseball," said WNUR Co-Sports Director Austin Miller. "For many young broadcasters, the way to successfully break into the business is through baseball. Because of this agreement, we will more than double the number of baseball games we broadcast each year, allowing ample opportunities for our talented broadcasters to gain experience and hone their craft. We are thankful to both Coach Allen and the Northwestern athletics department for making this happen, and we look forward to getting behind the microphone and bringing you the best possible coverage of Northwestern baseball."
Chicago's Big Ten Team will open the season with a three game series at Arizona State Feb. 17-19.
