ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Northwestern came up short in a battle of two of the top teams in the Big Ten with an 80-54 loss at Michigan Wednesday night.
The Wildcats (15-5, 4-3) were led by Amber Jamison for the second straight game. Jamison poured in 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting. She has scored in double figures in each of the last three games, all of which she has started.
Nia Coffey also reached double figures with 16 points. She had seven rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal in 34 minutes.
Ashley Deary continued to pace the Wildcats' offense from her point guard position, dishing out nine assists and collecting two steals.
Michigan shot 46 percent (30-of-65) from the field, while Northwestern could not seem to get its shots to fall, shooting 34 percent (21-of-61). The 'Cats did make half of their three-pointers on the night, led by Coffey and Jamison, who combined to go 5-of-8.
The Wolverines started the game on a 10-2 run and led 19-9 after the first quarter. They extended that out to 41-19 at the half and matched Northwestern point-for-point in the second half for the win.
