Elite Competition Awaits Wildcats at Elite Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 7 Northwestern travels to Philadelphia this weekend for its first duals of the season at the Elite Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Penn.

The Wildcats will face off in five duals against No. 6 Ohio State, Johns Hopkins, No. 2 Columbia, Yale and No. 3 Princeton, in that order. The first bout is scheduled for 7:30 a.m.

NU heads into the weekend after a strong opening to the season in two USFA competitions, the Remenyik Open and the October North American Cup. Seniors Stella Pointeau and Cindy Oh medalled at the Remenyik Open, while freshman Pauline Hamilton finished seventh in the NAC.

The Wildcats will look to build on their stellar 39-6 dual meet record from last season. Head coach Zach Moss will go for his first career victory.

Last season, the 'Cats bested rival Ohio State at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships with a first place finish for the fourth conference title in program history. They also defeated the Buckeyes at the January Northwestern Duals.

Northwestern split the season series with both Princeton and Columbia while defeating Johns Hopkins in the Elite Duals last season.
