EVANSTON, Ill. – Sophomore Ryan Lumsden was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week after leading the Wildcats to their first team title since 2013 at the Marquette Intercollegiate last weekend.
As a team, Northwestern saw a two-stroke cushion entering Monday's finale and then fired a tournament-best 4-under 276 to run away with the tournament victory with a five-shot advantage at 4-under 836.
Lumsden earned his first collegiate individual title after shooting three-straight rounds at 1-under 69 in a field packed with talent. The London native carded nine birdies en route to a first-place finish and paced a Northwestern team that saw three top-10 finishes.
The honor marks the first for Lumsden since arriving in Evanston last year.
