Wildcats Drop Home Match to Indiana

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern fell to Indiana in three sets Sunday at Welsh-Ryan Arena, despite holding Indiana to just .183 hitting and recording six team blocks.
 
Junior Taylor Tashima led the way for the Wildcats with 25 assists, nine digs and four kills with a .444 hitting percentage.
 
Northwestern spread its attack around with five players registering four or more kills. Junior Symone Abbott had seven, senior Sofia Lavin notched six and junior Gabrielle Hazen recorded four to go along with her two blocks.
 
Senior Maddie Slater had a good all-around performance, collecting five kills, three blocks, three digs and an ace. She is up to 299 career blocks.
 
Freshman Sarah Johnson earned her second straight start at libero and tallied nine digs. Fellow freshmen Emily Ehman, Kaitlin Tavarez and Allie Lindroth all saw the court as well.
 
Northwestern led the Hoosiers for most of the first and second sets, but could not capitalize. The 'Cats fended off five set points total, but dropped the first set 25-23 and the second 27-25. Indiana took the third set 25-19.
 
Chicago's Big Ten Team is back in action on Friday, Oct. 28, when it travels to Iowa to face the Hawkeyes for the second time this season.
