Massey Scores Four as 'Cats Trounce Chippewas, 8-0

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Junior Pascale Massey scored a career-high four goals as Northwestern rolled to a convincing 8-0 win at Central Michigan on Sunday.

Massey's four goals are the most by a Wildcat in a game this season and are the most by an NU player in a contest since Chelsea Armstrong scored four against Missouri State on Oct. 21, 2012.

With the win, Northwestern improves to 11-6 on the season.

Massey got the scoring started with a goal at the 4:31 mark off an assist from Sophia Miller. The 'Cats made it 2-0 at 11:32 when Isabel Flens scored her team-leading 15th goal of the year with Lily Gandhi assisting on the play.

Exactly four minutes later, the advantage grew to three when Lily Katzman put home a feed from Dominique Masters. Massey tallied her second of the game just 68 seconds later with Saar de Breij notching the assist. Northwestern got one final first-half goal at 31:08 when Masters converted on a penalty corner, ripping home a blast to make it 5-0. Kirsten Mansfield earned the assist on the goal by Masters.

It took Northwestern only one minute into the second half to expand the lead as Puck Pentenga took a feed from Flens and fired a rocket into the back of the cage for her fourth goal of the season.

Massey earned the hat trick with an unassisted goal at 54:59 before completing the scoring with her fourth of the day at 68:25.

Northwestern finished the match with a 36-9 advantage in shots and a 13-3 edge in penalty corners. Lindsay von der Luft and Annie Kalfas split time in goal for the Wildcats in sharing the shutout.

The 'Cats return to action Friday when they close out their Big Ten season at Michigan State.
