EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Northwestern's two doubles teams both advanced to the quarterfinal round at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Michigan State University.
The top-seeded team of Alex Chatt and Maddie Lipp marched on with a convincing 8-2 victory over Eastern Michigan's team of Andrea Martinovska and Marie Mayerova. With the win, the Wildcats' duo advances to take on Michigan's Kate Fahey and Alex Najarian, a No. 5-8 seed, on Sunday.
Also victorious on Saturday was the duo of Erin Larner and Lee Or. A No. 5-8 seed in the draw, the team outlasted Ohio State's Ferny Angeles Paz and Olivia Sneed, a No. 9-12 seed, 8-7 (3). Larner and Or will take on the second-seeded team of Brienne Minor and Mira Ruder-Hook of Michigan.
In the singles main draw, Lipp -- the No. 2 seed -- needed three sets to get by Michigan State's Chua, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 to advance to the round of 16. Lipp next will face Illinois' Ines Vias with a berth in the quarterfinal round on the line.

Larner -- who was seeded fourth -- was upset by Ariadna Blinova of Akron 7-5, 6-3. Lee Or defeated Western Michigan's Tracy Kuhle 6-3, 6-4 before falling to Ohio State's Miho Kowase, 6-1, 6-1.
Meanwhile, at the Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Indiana, Rheeya Doshi and Jillian Rooney both advanced to the final of the Flight 1 draw. Doshi defeated Alex Sabe of Purdue 7-5, 6-3 while Rooney outlasted Rafaella Baquerizo of Purdue 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (7). Singles action also saw Nina Van Oost fall to Purdue's Deborah Suarez 6-2, 6-0.
