EVANSTON, Illinois – Junior Hannah Kim has been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week after a Top-8 finish at the Stanford Intercollegiate, the Conference announced on Wednesday.
Kim fired a two-round total of 144, including a 2-under par 69 in the opening round, this weekend at the Stanford Golf Course. Among an elite field, the Chula Vista, California, native earned a share of eighth place, her third consecutive Top-8 finish of the fall campaign.
This marks the first weekly honor of the 2016-17 season for the two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, but is the fifth of her college career. Teammate Kacie Komoto was recognized on September 14 with the Conference's inaugural honor of the year.
Kim, a 2016 WGCA All-American, finished the fall calendar with the Wildcats lowest scoring average (71.81) and a team-best six rounds at par-or-better. She owns the lowest career scoring average (71.94) in Northwestern history as well as the best 18 and 54-hole scores ever by a Wildcat.
