GOLF, Ill. – Northwestern women's golf will welcome 13 of the nation's top teams to Glen View Club on Monday, October 3, and Tuesday, October 4, for the 2016 Windy City Collegiate Classic.
2016 Windy City Collegiate Classic – LIVE LEADERBOARDS
Now in its ninth iteration, the Windy City has developed into perhaps the most elite event on the women's college golf fall calendar. The 2016 field includes Arizona, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Iowa State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Purdue, Stanford, Tulane, USC and Vanderbilt.
The 14-team leaderboard will feature 10 programs that competed at the 2016 NCAA Golf Championships in Eugene (and one more with an individual), six of the Top-8 teams from last season's final Golfstat rankings, and eight of the Top-20 teams in the current Golfweek rankings.
The No. 17 Wildcats lineup in the 5-count-4 scoring format this week will feature two-time Big Ten Player of the Year Hannah Kim, reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year Stephanie Lau, and returning All-Big Ten performers Kacie Komoto, Sarah Cho and Janet Mao.
Northwestern is scheduled to be paired with the Iowa State Cyclones and Oklahoma Cowboys for rounds 1 and 2 on Monday, with tee times slated for 8:15, 8:24, 8:33, 8:42 and 8:51 a.m. CT in the morning.
Five Wildcats will also be competing individually at the event, with senior Minjia Luo, sophomores MacKenzie Hawkes and Monica Matsubara, and freshmen Louise McCulloch and Brooke Riley paired with Tulane and Oregon. The Windy City will mark McCulloch's collegiate debut for the Wildcats.
Northwestern, Arizona & Georgia (-12) shared the 2015 Windy City title at Westmoreland Country Club. Georgia's Bailey Tardy (-12) captured the individual crown with a tournament record 204, followed by Southern California's Karen Chung & Arizona's Jessica Vasilic (-7). Komoto (T4, -5) and Kim (T6, -4) led five 'Cats inside the Top-34 on last year's leaderboard.
This marks the third time the event will be hosted by Glen View Club (2011, '12). It has previously been hosted at Westmoreland Country Club (2014, '15), Northmoor Country Club (2010, '13), The Glen Club (2009) & Evanston Country Club (2008).
