EVANSTON, Ill. -- Junior goalkeeper Lauren Clem has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Clem led the Wildcats to a scoreless draw last week against Ohio State (No. 19 RPI) with a career performance between the pipes. The junior recorded a career-best nine saves en route to her third career Defensive Player of the Week award. Clem anchored a unit that defended 28 total shots and 17 corners, good for the squad's NCAA-leading ninth shutout of the year.
Clem and the Wildcats return to Martin Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 6, when they host Michigan State at 7 p.m.
