EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern volunteer assistant coach Cody Brewer will take his world championships training to another level when he squares off in an exhibition match against Tony Ramos at the annual Who's #1 event at Lehigh on Sunday, Oct. 2.
Brewer was a four-time All-American at Oklahoma and won the 2015 national championship at 133 lbs. before coming to Northwestern to coach with Matt Storniolo, Andrew Howe and Conor Beebe.
Ramos, a 2014 national and Big Ten champion at Iowa, is currently an assistant at North Carolina. Both wrestlers are training to make the U.S. world team at 61 kg.
"Wrestling against Tony needed to happen," Brewer told FloWrestling earlier this month. "People want to see the match, and I want to give the people a show when I am out there."
The World Championships will be held Dec. 10-11 in Budapest, Hungary.
