PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- No. 21 Northwestern fell to a tough Big Ten opponent in No. 22 Rutgers on Friday afternoon, snapping the Wildcats' nine-game win streak.
 
Senior Erica Murphy scored the first goal of the match in the 31st minute. Taylor Aylmyer gave Murphy the helper, notching her second assist of the year.
 
Another Rutgers goal followed in the second half as Colby Ciarrocca lifted a shot over Clem's shoulder off a corner kick from Nicole Whitley. With the goal, the Scarlet Knights extended their lead, 2-0, with 28 minutes left in regulation.
 
Sophomore Marisa Viggiano made a last-ditch effort to get Chicago's Big Ten Team on the board, but Scarlet Knight keeper Alana Jimenez recorded her first save of the game to preserve the shutout.
 
Clem registered a season-high six saves in the Wildcats' effort.
 
The 'Cats look to recover on Sunday, Sept. 28, as the squad travels to College Park, Md., to take on Maryland. The match is slated to start at noon CT.
