BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Goalkeeper Robbie White made the first start of his career and recorded a clean sheet, helping Northwestern to a 0-0 double-overtime draw at No. 3 Indiana on Sunday afternoon.
White's six-save performance improves Northwestern to 1-5-1 overall and 0-2-1 in Big Ten play, while Indiana moves to 4-0-3 on the campaign and 1-0-2 in league play.
"We played a great team today and bent, but didn't break," said head coach Tim Lenahan. "Indiana is a great team and clearly was the better soccer team today, but we defended like warriors in the box and will take a well-earned road Big Ten point, which was very tough to come by."
Northwestern's backline played the contest with a bend, but don't break approach, facing 28 shots from the Hoosiers compared to the Wildcats' three.
Nathan Dearth and Willis Griffith anchored the #B1GCats defense, playing all 110 minutes.
On the attacking side, Northwestern's best chance came in the 43rd minute when Jeffrey Hopson put a shot on target. Hopson's strike was the team's lone shot on goal.
Sunday afternoon's result marked the fourth time that the two programs have played to a draw in the last six meetings.
Northwestern will take a break from Big Ten play when it hosts DePaul on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Martin Stadium for a 7 p.m. CT kick. The 'Cats topped the Blue Demons, 2-1, in 2015.
