EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 16 Northwestern encounters a pair of stiff challenging this weekend when it faces two top-10 teams at the B1G/ACC Cup at Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

For the second straight year, NU will face Boston College and Duke. Friday's game against the eighth-ranked Eagles is set for 3 p.m. Central time while Sunday's contest against the fourth-ranked Blue Devils will be played at 10 a.m. CT.

Northwestern split its two contests against the teams at Spooky Nook a year ago, falling 2-1 to fifth-ranked Duke before topping 13th-ranked Boston College 3-1.

The 'Cats (1-1) opened their 2016 season last weekend when they split a pair of matchups in Durham, New Hampshire. NU dropped a tight 2-1 decision to No. 17 Boston University in Friday's season-opener despite a goal by Dominique Masters. The senior surpassed 100 points for her career in the process, but the Wildcats were edged despite out-shooting the Terriers 14-6 in the contest, including a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal.

Northwestern bounced back on Sunday by trouncing UMass, 5-0. Isabel Flens scored a pair of goals and added an assist to pace the 'Cats. Masters, Elena Curley and Lily Katzman also chipped in goals for the Wildcats. It was the first Northwestern goal for both Curley and Katzman. Lindsay von der Luft made four saves in goal to earn her first shutout of the season after leading the Big Ten in the category with six in 2015.

Masters and Flens form a formidable 1-2 offensive punch for the 'Cats. The seniors have combined to score 78 career goals with Masters tallying 42 times while Flens has found the back of the cage 36 times.

Scouting Boston College
The Eagles won their lone contest last weekend, defeating Quinnipiac 2-0 behind goals by All-American and Preseason All-ACC pick Emily McCoy and Brooke Matherson. The Eagles out-shot the Bobcats, 21-7, including a 14-4 margin on target. Northwestern has dominated the all-time series with Boston College, holding a 10-1 advantage though the teams are meeting for just the fourth time since 1995.

Scouting Duke
The Blue Devils are off to a 2-0 start having defeated William & Mary, , and No. 13 Liberty, , last weekend. Heather Morris leads the team with three goals so far this season after pacing the team with 11 a year ago. Junior forward Ashley Kristen is a Preseason All-ACC selection. Prior to last season's loss to Duke, Northwestern had posted consecutive wins over the Blue Devils in Durham during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Duke holds a slim 4-3 lead in the all-time series between the schools.
