EVANSTON, Ill. – Three Wildcats have been earned 2016-17 preseason honors, the Big Ten announced today. Junior Dylan Wu, redshirt senior Andrew Whalen and sophomore Ryan Lumsden represented Northwestern on the list.
Wu led the Wildcats in almost every statistical category last year, including a pair of third place finishes at The Boilermaker and Northwestern's home tournament - the Windon Memorial. The rising junior led the 'Cats in the individual standings at his second-career Big Ten Championships, finishing sixth overall at 3-under 213 and was named to the All-Big Ten second team. He capped off his sophomore campaign with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Stillwater Regional.
Whalen finished the 2015-16 year ranked third for the Wildcats in full-season stroke average at 73.97 with 12 rounds at par or better. The redshirt senior collected three top 10 finishes last season, including a sixth-place rank at the Bridgestone Collegiate.
Lumsden finished his rookie campaign ranked second for NU in stroke average at 73.92 with two top 10 rankings. He capped off the year with a 32nd-place finish at the Big Ten Tournament and finished 22nd overall at the NCAA Stillwater Regional.
